1. Dog Daycare is great for dogs who have a lot of energy and need to burn it off. 2. Dog Daycare is very healthy! They are very social and are pack animals and dog daycare is a way to have them play in a supervised and safe area. It causes less stress. 3. Dog Daycare is great for mental stimulation. The position and the movement of your dog’s tail tells a lot about the state of mind of your dog. 3 Tail Positions : 1.) high (confident) 2.) neutral ( a relaxed/ happy dog) 3.) low (submission) Your dog’s tail wagging motion and speed gives insight to your dog’s state of mind. 4 Happy Wagging Motions 1.) large wags at a moderate speed ( happy to see you) 2.) small wags at a moderate speed 3.) small wags at slow speed ( happy/content) 4.) small wags at fast speed ( happy) The wag you should be concerned about is a slow and small rhythmic movement. Your dog is not sure and is ill at ease. Your dog needs to be redirected immediately before your dog lashes out.

In Montgomery County Maryland, it is easy to figure out if dog care/service business is legal or not. If you take your dog to a residential address, then that should be a red flag to you. Montgomery County or City of Rockville does not zone or license businesses in residential zoned areas. Another red flag is if the dog is picked up at your home and taken “somewhere” or to their “home”. The “business” should be able to show you their license issued by either the City of Rockville or by Montgomery County to prove they are a legitimate business. When you google places to board your pet you will find many illegal businesses with their websites listed ( probably more illegal than legal). In regards to your dog’s safety any insurance that an illegal company carries will not cover your dog because the policy is with an illegal business. The owner is fully responsible for harm done to their […]

There are lots of reasons why you should board your dog while you are away rather than have them stay at home with someone checking up on them periodically. Dogs are social animals; they want to be with people and other dogs. It provides an opportunity to play with others and allows the chance to meet new friends of the 2 and 4 legged varieties. New surroundings with obstacles and toys for them to interact with is also very important for mental stimulation and growth. Certainly not the least, dogs are pack animals and the facility we have at Blue Dog Boarding and Daycare Rockville lends itself perfectly for pack environment. If a dog always stays at home they never get much opportunity to learn and explore new environments; all they experience is what is in the house and whoever happens to visit the home. Their social skills are not refreshed and under utilized, therefore they begin to regress […]
